2 FOUNDED 1951 Began with the insights of Lt. Col. Roger Birkman who piloted a B-17 in the war Birkman is unique as it compares a person’s self-perceptions with his/her perceptions of most people thereby defining a person’s social worldview. Birkman founded in 1951

Birkman uses four core symbols to represent key personality dimensions. Birkman uses four important symbols to represent key elements of personality. The Diamond and the Square are our 2 external, or outward, behaviors. These are our Usual Behavior and Stress Behavior. The Asterisk and Circle are our 2 internal, or inward, motivations. And that’s because Greens are COMMUNICATORS: They are Extroverted & People-Oriented.

Blues are people who: Plan and visualize possibilities Generate new ideas and solve problems Enjoy reflection and introspection Are selectively sociable Like Yellows, a Birkman Blue also represents introversion. Yellows are people who: Are concentrative and cautious Like to work with numbers and details Establish systems and procedures Prefer indirect communication Yellows are the opposite of Green, as they are Introverted & Task-Oriented. Yellows are Analyzers. You may recognize a Birkman Yellow as someone who is precise and consistent.

12 The Only Assessment That Captures NEEDS
By understanding one’s own Needs, individuals are better able to recharge, stay motivated, and avoid Stress Behavior. By understanding other’s Needs, an individual is able to provide the support to improve morale, increase productivity, and better facilitate communication. Needs: What individuals crave from their environment and the people around them. When someone’s Needs are met, they are fulfilled, engaged, and productive. For 70% of people, what we NEED is DIFFERENT than HOW WE BEHAVE.
