Communication We believe that constant communication between the parents and teachers is crucial to the well-being of students. The sixth grade team can be reached by phone, , and pertinent information is also contained within our websites. www. dvusd.org/terramar Please allow 24 hours for a response from a teacher. Expect s from us often as we strive to keep you informed of your students progress. Text using an app called Remind Powerschools is an excellent tool to communicate grades. brody

Sixth Grade Discipline
There is a major shift in discipline as students transition from 5th to 6th grade. Teachers use verbal warnings, and the 3 step system set up by the school Step 1- Lunch detention, Parent Notification Step 2- After School Detention, Parent Notification Step 3- If student receives three strikes, then student will be sent to the office (office referral). Steps on the behavior chart remain for 6 weeks. If six weeks passes between steps, the student resets. This plan runs separately in each class/area on campus. ….Rhoades

Homework Policies Although homework is assigned daily, your child may not have homework in each subject. We follow the following formula in regard to the time limit: -grade level (6) multiplied by ten to twenty minutes equals 1 to 2 hours per night. If your child is working an excessive amount of time on homework, please communicate with us so we can come up with a plan of action. Late work will not be accepted, unless approved by the teacher. Enrico

Planner Provided by Terramar -Lost planners cost $5
Each student must write down: -Homework -Tests -Projects If there is no homework, it should say “no homework,” and not be blank. Blank means student did not write assignment. If we send a Remind message for homework, this is a courtesy, do not rely solely on remind messages. Teachers may communicate through planners. If you have written something in the planner, your child must bring it to the teacher. We do not check their planners. Brody
