Sign into CLASS-Web Click on “Personal Information” tab Click on “update Emergency Text-Authorized Cell Phone Number” Enter your cell phone number and click “Submit”

Parking on Campus Purchase a semester permit on Class Web $40 (need License # of car, make and model) Daily permits – $3 day sold in parking lots Limited parking spaces in beginning of semester Permits must be visible to avoid a ticket Parking violations - $35! (speeding $100)

Car Safety Never leave valuables in sight
Always lock your doors and close windows At night, park in well lit areas If you think you are being followed, drive to the nearest Police station or well lit and populated areas like a grocery store or gas station Do not talk on the cell or text while driving – illegal in California

Legal age to drink alcohol in USA = 21 years Do not drive if you have drunk alcohol BAC = .08% Call a taxi, Uber or Lyft, or have a designated driver Drunk Driving – Serious Offense $10,000 Fine 4 days to 6 months in jail Can affect visa status

Personal Safety Always be aware of your surroundings
Have confident, “purposeful” walk If you go out at night, it is safer to go accompanied by a friend Avoid high crime areas, especially at night Do not carry large amounts of cash - $100 maximum Learn to say “no”

Home Safety Always lock your door and windows in your apartment/home
Do not admit to being alone on the phone Do not open the door to strangers – use a peep hole and always ask “who is it?” and ask for ID before opening the door

At home, OK to ask for ID – badge In car, drive to safe, well lighted place, stay in automobile with hands on steering wheel. Do NOT leave car Remain calm and polite Do not offer a “bribe”. Not done in USA

Earthquake Safety Duck under a sturdy object like a desk or bed
Avoid windows, filing cabinets, bookcases, and heavy objects that could shatter or fall Stay under cover until the shaking stops, then evacuate the building Use the stairs, do not use the elevator In the event of a major earthquake, turn off gas

Disaster Prevention Register your local address at your nearest Embassy or Consulate in the USA Should be prepared in the event of a major emergency to be self-sufficient for 3 days (72 hours)

Emergency Kit Have an Emergency Kit in your home and car
Kits should include items like: water medication first aid kit flashlight battery powered radio whistle food manual can opener personal hygiene items, and copies of passport, I-20, medical insurance and other important documents Visit for a complete list of recommended Emergency Kit items

Sexual Assault/ Rape Think about the level of intimacy you want in a relationship and clearly state your limits You must get affirmative consent for sex Everyone has the right to say “no” to sex at any time Consent cannot be give is someone is asleep or incapacitated by drugs or alcohol If sex isn’t consensual, it is RAPE! Don’t leave your drink unattended at any time Be aware of your surroundings at all time At a party, go with a group of friends and watch out for each other Don’t be isolated with someone you don’t know or trust
