Importance of volunteer and student work experience
2
volunteering Are you looking for a job but don’t have the experience you need? But you can’t get experience because you can’t get a job? Volunteer in a place where you will be completing tasks similar to your job interests Do you need more skills or a better network so you can find work? Keep a list of the contacts you make volunteering This may help you when you apply for future jobs (‘it’s all about who you know’) or they can act as your references Are you thinking of making a change in your career but unsure about what you want to do? Volunteering can help you try out different fields of employment without making a drastic lifestyle change (i.e. changing programs)
