This section shows: If your child Passed or Has Not Met the MCAS testing requirement for each subject; If your child requires an Educational Proficiency Plan, and; Your child’s scaled score for each subject and your child’s growth percentile in ELA and Mathematics. Note that there are different score ranges for the next-generation ELA and Mathematics tests and for the legacy tests in Science and Technology/Engineering.

3 Results for ELA and Mathematics – Pages 2 and 3 of Report
This section shows, in more detail, your child’s score and achievement level in each subject, and what each achievement level means. Note that students who scored between 455 and 469 in ELA (as in the example above) or scored 469 in Mathematics are “Not Meeting Expectations” but still met the minimum score to graduate. This means these students may graduate but still have work to do to be ready for college or a career after high school.

4 Achievement and Growth Percentiles – Pages 2 and 3 of Report
These sections show the following: Achievement Growth Your child’s score this year Your child’s growth percentile (1-99), which lets you know how his or her score compares to others who scored similarly in the past Your child’s score from grade 8 in the same subject School, district, and state averages for comparison School, district, and state average growth for comparison

5 Reporting Categories and Item Level Information – Pages 2 and 3
Each subject area has multiple reporting categories. This chart shows how many points your child received out of the total for each category, as well as the average statewide for students who performed similarly. This display also shows how many points your child earned on each question of the test. This information can be used, together with released questions, test item descriptions, and scoring guidelines, to identify areas where your child is succeeding and areas where he or she may need additional support. Released test questions can be found here.

6 Results for Science and Technology/Engineering – Page 4
Results from the STE test your child took in one of four subjects (Biology, Chemistry, Introductory Physics, or Technology/Engineering) are reported on the legacy MCAS Achievement Levels: Advanced, Proficient, Needs Improvement, and Failing. At the bottom, your child’s performance level (indicated by the check) may be compared to students from their school, district, and the state.
