4 Packing Your Workstation
Each employee should follow these steps to pack their personal belongings and workstation. Clear the desktop and empty all drawers. Pack all of these items into the plastic moving crates provided. Each employee will be limited to the supplied number of crates and will not be provided more. Purge unneeded items and documents in the designated shredding, recycling, and garbage stations. If you have any personal items, particularly items of value, do not pack them in the crates. Instead, take them home for the duration of the move. Additionally, If you have a laptop, bring it home with you. Your laptop should not be handled by the movers. Unplug your keyboard, mouse, and phone and place them inside the supplied keyboard bags. Please label the bag and leave it on surface top for Olympia crew. Unplug any other aspects of your workstation technology, including monitors or desktop computers and place cords into the keyboard bag. NOTE: If Olympia is providing disconnect / reconnect services, please skip steps 4 and 5. Fill out the disconnect / reconnect sheet and leave it inside the keyboard on your desk. Stack your packed crates on the designated 4-wheel dolly, 4 crates high Very important – label your crates, desk, furniture, phone, computer and monitors as instructed You will be provided these packing materials [x] crates Colored labels Keyboard bags Disconnect / reconnect sheet These materials will be available at [location] Packing paper to wrap fragile items Black markers Paper recycling Additional trash cans

5 Properly Packing Crates
Use these guidelines to properly pack the plastic crates: You will want as little empty space in each bin as possible. Pack the heaviest items on the bottom and the lightest on top. Fill any empty space with packing paper Do not over-fill the crate, it should be able to close completely and stack. Close the bin and properly label with the colored label designated to your floor. There is a space designated on the side of the crate for the label (NOT the top). Fill in the floor, room, and location numbers on the label with sharpie marker. Stack the packed crate on the 4-wheel dolly. You will want to stack the crates 3-4 high per dolly. Labeling Your Workstation Belongings Your internal move manager will communicate your assigned label color, floor, room, and location numbers for your new workstation or office. You have been provided colored labels. Fill out the floor, room, and location on each label with black sharpie (not pen or pencil, to ensure visibility). Adhere the label to every crate, furniture, and item being moved to your new office. EVERY ITEM MUST HAVE A COMPLETED COLORED LABEL OR THE MOVERS WILL NOT TAKE IT. Detailed instructions on where to place each label on the next slide.

6 Label Placement Art, Bulletin Boards, White Boards Plastic moving crate totes File cabinets Chairs Desks Tables Computer monitor Waste can Printer Bookcase Carpet / rug Boxes During an office move, the movers are trained to look for labels in specific locations. This is why the labels must be clearly visible from distances and in poor lighting. The rule of thumb is to place the label in a visible spot on the upper-right hand side of the object.

7 Enjoy your new workspace!
After the move is complete, you will arrive at your new office ready to work. Unpack your crates at your new workspace Place empty crates and used packing materials in the designated areas If any aspects of your workstation appear to be set up improperly, or if you cannot locate any of your belongings, notify your internal move manager Property Amenities [Such as gym, cafeteria, etc.] Nearby Restaurants [nearby coffee, take out, restaurants] Location for unpacked crates & moving materials xxx Unpacking deadline [date]
