3. Lab Safety Scenario I Below are descriptions of a scenario. Read each scenario and use your own paper to describe what each student should do. Scenario 1: Tamika is working in the lab with several chemicals that are in different test tubes. She is wondering what would happen if she mixes some of these chemicals together. What should Tamika do? Why?

10. Biological or Biohazards Come from living things (bacteria, virus, fungi) Can be poisonous Can make you very ill Wear plastic gloves when required. Wash hands with soap and water for at least 25 seconds (Sing “Happy Birthday” twice.)

11. Fire or heat hazards Can burn skin and tissues Smoke inhalation can damage lungs Can come from chemicals or objects that are hot Be careful around flame or hot objects. Use pot holders Put burned areas under cold water
