Upcoming, Important Dates: Add these dates to your agenda, if they apply to you: Thursday (09/12) – Get Dance Permission Slips Go get your breakfast NOW. Do not wait. Turn in any signed paperwork to the homeroom bin. If you are not eating, you must read something of your choice. HOMEROOM = SILENCE

2 Language Arts – Warm Up 09/11/19
Keep this packet in your “Freak the Mighty” folder until it is due. Today, you are just completing the 4 portion. Finished early? Complete any incomplete work in your “Freak the Mighty” folder. Then, read your own book silently.

Essential Questions: How can talking and working with others help one analyze a novel? How do internal and external forces help people grow? Standard: ELACC6RL1 – Cite textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text.

6 Language Arts – Closing Session 09/11/19
“Freak the Mighty” Note-Taking Packet Review the examples for Chapter 1. Then, complete the portions for Chapter 5 and the prediction part at the bottom. This completed front page is due by tomorrow! Finished early? Finish any incomplete work in your “FTM” folder.

7 MEDIA CENTER - TODAY Language Arts – E.L.T. 09/11/19
Today, we will drop our books here and go to lunch/restrooms. When we return from our restroom break, we’ll go straight to the CCAC Lab inside of the Media Center for a lesson with Mrs. Chaney. If you have books to return, bring them. Please, do not ask to go to your locker. No passes will be written.

8 Reading Language Arts – E.L.T. 09/12/19 Read a book of your choice.
When you finish the book, see me to complete your book recommendation form. You must read at least 3 books this nine weeks and complete the corresponding book recommendation. You will have time in class to read, but you could also read on your own, too. You may certainly read more to earn more points! YOUR SECOND BOOK MUST BE FINISHED BY AT LEAST FRIDAY (09/13). Remember to include a completed book recommendation and take your photo.

These completed sheets are due every Friday. Add your new sheet to the next available page in your ELT notebook and put today’s date on it.

Language Arts – E.L.T. 09/12/19 Writing (Must Complete 3 for a Grade) Choose one of the following topics and write at least one paragraph (5 complete sentences) about it. What is your most prized possession? Why is it so valuable to you? If you could live in any fictional tv show or book, what would it be and why? Would you be a character or yourself? Why? What part of being an adult seems to be the most fun? Which part seems to be the most challenging? Describe your perfect day. Where would you go? What would you do? If you could create your own planet in outer space, what would it be like? What would the rules be? What would people do? Free write about a topic of your choice. Remember to show me every time you complete three writing pieces. Every three pieces are for a grade!
