Top 10 tips! As a general rule it is two lines per 1 mark and 1 mark per minute. Try to fill up the lines you have been allocated for each question. Short 1 or 2 mark questions should have brief answers; longer questions demand extended writing in sentences. Pay attention to S.P.G. Use sentences and PLACES with capital letters (not starting with because…..). Don’t be vague, e.g. using words such as good, bad, nice, things, stuff, or when locating, e.g. in America. Don’t waffle. It is better to stop and think before you write. Get straight to the point of the question, don’t repeat the question in a long introduction. Be able to locate case studies accurately. Learn place case studies as well as thematic case studies or a combination, e.g. a tropical storm event in a named location, the opportunities and challenges of urban growth in a named LIC. Use examples even if they are not asked for if you feel they can support your answer.
