HELLO! My name is Lindsey Mott and this is my third year as McGee Elementary’s SCHOOL COUNSELOR. I feel like I have the best job in the whole school! I love my students and I’m committed 100% to seeing them succeed in all areas—academic, personal and social. When I’m not at school, I love spending time with my family. Here’s a little more about me: My Family: Happily married to my husband Brad for 8 years. We have two sons, Kaden (age 14) and Banner (age 2). My Hometown: Hermiston, Oregon. My Ethnicity: Native American My Colleges: I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Northwest University in Then, I received my Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Seattle Pacific University in 2010. CLASSROOM LESSONS: I reach 100% of the student population by teaching “Second Step”, an anti-bullying curriculum that also promotes empathy and problem solving skills. SMALL GROUP COUNSELING: Group Counseling is available for students (with parent and teacher permission). Group topics may include: Friendship/Social Skills Family Changes Grief Anxiety/Stress Management Motivation INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING Students may be referred for individual counseling as deemed necessary by parents and teachers. OTHER SERVICES Peer Conflict Resolution 504 Plans Community Resource Referrals Parent Consultations Crisis Intervention *Please note that School Counselors do not provide therapy. Referrals for mental health counseling are available upon request for children experiencing trauma or other mental health concerns. Every day as an Elementary School Counselor is EXCITING and DIFFERENT! I work closely with McGee teachers and administrators to provide counseling services that meet the unique needs of our students. Whether it be helping a student resolve a conflict with a friend, cope with a bad day, or deal with the loss of a beloved pet, I’m here to listen and support! From SEPTEMBER to DECEMEBER my goal is to reach the whole school by teaching “Second Step” lessons in every classroom. This curriculum promotes a safe and caring school culture and also allows our students to become familiar with the Role of the School Counselor. From JANUARY to JUNE, my primary focus is providing small group counseling and individual counseling that targets specific student needs. (Small Group and Individual Counseling require parent permission).
