2 Senior College & Career Readiness
Today’s Goal: To get seniors to take the first steps in your decision as to what you are going to do after high school. Making your plan… Step up! To get through this process!!!

3 Senior C & C Readiness Overview of the timeline and tasks for college applications If not considering college, re-consider especially HCC or STCC The military or the work force may not workout; doing the application to the community college is a good plan

4 Organization Use the checklists and information from the Junior Workshop If you need another one, pick one up in the Counseling Center You will be given a final checklist when you meet individually with your counselor This checklist will have the necessary information you will need for your college applications

5 SAT Test Dates October 5, 2019 - Late registration now
November 2, Registration by Oct 2 December 7, Registration by Nov 7 Not at Chaug * arrange for scores to be sent directly from sat.org

7 Schedule College Visits
Saturday/Sunday Tours (October 11 and 14) Columbus Day Weekend Mid week visits are not an excused absence Sign up in Counseling Center to meet college representatives - Check Naviance, listen to announcements, check the wall outside the MCC Importance of fit

8 Add Colleges on Naviance
If you are still thinking about applying, add under “colleges I’m thinking about” If you are definitely applying, add under “colleges I’m applying to” We cannot send your supporting documents if colleges are not listed under “colleges I’m applying to”

10 Letters of recommendation
Verbally ask teachers for a letter of recommendation Ask no more than 2 teachers If they say yes, officially request on Naviance under “colleges “ Tab You MUST add colleges into Naviance before you can request a teacher to write the LOR

11 Your essay Start your essay! Make sure you have someone proof read it
Make sure it is appropriate Proof read, proof read, proof read! Essay Writing Presentation Tuesday, Oct 9 at 6:30 pm –sign-up in the Counseling Center

12 Start Applications YOU MUST be aware of deadlines!!! Commonapp.org
Directly on the college’s website YOU MUST be aware of deadlines!!!

13 Request transcripts You must come to the Counseling Center and sign a release for your transcripts to be sent *** Beware of Schedule Changes! Please allow up to two weeks for documents to be sent $2 per official transcript Counselor letter of recommendation

14 Naviance “Naviance Student”
Keep Naviance updated: When you add a college When you submit your application When you receive a decision When you make your final decision You must link Naviance and the Common Application

15 NCAA Eligibility Requirements:
Students who plan to play Division I or Division II sports in college must complete NCAA eligibility requirements Register online at SAT or ACT scores must be sent directly to the Eligibility Center the CEEB code is 9999 If you intend to do this and you have not already done it, see your counselor ASAP!

16 Friendly Reminders!!!!! SENIORITIS! Appropriate communication!
Social media, address, personal conduct Don’t get “un-invited” to attend college Communication is VERY IMPORTANT! Check your colleges and your counselor Suggest you put notifications on cell phone
