3 Population National Picture University of Delaware
In 2010, about 28% of the foreign-born population in the US were undocumented immigrants (10.8 million) which is roughly 3.7% of the total population of the country (Negrón-Gonzales, 2015) 12% of undocumented citizens are between the ages of (Kim & Diaz, 2013) An estimated 13,000 undocumented students enrolled in 2003 (Passel, 2003) Limited growth since 2003 even with supports (Kim & Diaz, 2013) University of Delaware No official list of undocumented or DACA students Identified through Student Financial Services and self disclosure Approximately 50 students were identified in fall 2017 José – the work has developed over the past 5-6 years…

4 Mentorship, Resiliency, and Grit
Research from Gamez, Lopez, and Overton (2017) suggest mentors, resiliency, and grit affect student navigation strategies, and solutions to barriers need to be identified.
