Factors that Affect Climate
Weather: Condition of the earth’s climate at any given time. Climate: Average weather of a place for years. Precipitation: Water falls from the sky in the form of rain or snow. Altitude: height above sea level. Ocean currents Wind currents Mountains

North American Climates
Marine- Pacific Northwest (mild, moist, climate with warm summers and cool winters) Mediterranean- California (Winters are mild and wet, summers are hot and dry) Highland-Western Mts. (Cooler temperatures, varies on altitude) Steppe- Great Plains (summers are hot, winters are cold)

Desert- Eastern side of Cascades and Sierra Nevada (Hot days, cold nights, little rainfall) Humid Continental-Central Plains, MINNESOTA!!! (Mild summers, cold winters) Humid subtropical- Southeastern U.S.A.(Warm temperatures, regular rainfall)

N. American Climates Cont.
Tropical- Southern Florida and Hawaii (Hot, humid conditions) Tundra and sub arctic-Northern Alaska (Cold all year around)
