The children have settled in well and are already getting familiar with the routines of EYFS. We are looking forward to helping them to explore their interests and to become independent and creative learners this year. EYFS Team In Sherwood Class, we are very lucky to have lots of adults that help us with our learning. Class Teachers: Miss Bloxam and Mrs Whyley, Mrs Newsum also covers our planning time. Teaching Assistants: Mrs Wright, Mrs Cawston Curriculum This term our topic will be Superheroes! We will be learning about ourselves, our families and real-life superheroes - people that help us. A baseline assessment will be completed in the first 6 weeks, which will help us to plan learning opportunities at your child’s level. Learning opportunities will include:- Personal, Social and Emotional Development Making relationships - learning to share, take turns and make new friends. Self Confidence and Self Awareness - becoming independent learners in the classroom. Managing feelings and behaviour - becoming familiar with classroom routines. Tapestry is an online innovative, interactive journal recording all the learning and fun of your child’s early years education. You will also be able to upload photos from home that we can then share with staff and children in school. You will receive a letter shortly about this. P.E Days Sherwood Class will be doing P.E on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please ensure your child has their P.E kit in school all week as occasionally these days need to change. All clothing should be labelled with their name. Outdoor Wear In Sherwood class a large proportion of time is spent learning outdoors. Please make sure your child ALWAYS has an outdoor coat and a pair of wellies (labelled with their name). If you have any spare waterproofs at home, we would always welcome these. Oigikhgkjhkjhkjgkgik Homework Phonics - Each week, we will be learning new sounds as part of a structured phonics programme. A small book will be sent home with each sound sheet included. Each sound sheet has the action, picture and correct letter formation. It would help your child if they practised saying these sounds every day at home. Gradually, your child will also be introduced to key words that will be included in this book to practise at home.
