2 GENERAL INFORMATION FOR KINDERGARTEN
Welcome to our Kindergarten class. Here is a list of information you may refer to throughout the year. School Hours Full Day – 7:50 a.m. – 3:20 p.m Tardy – 8:00 a.m. 2. Absence Reporting If your child is going to be absent, please Laura Roberts at or before 9:30 a.m., on each day your child is absent. . If your child comes to school after 10:00 a.m., they will be marked absent for the day unless a doctor's note is received by Mrs. Roberts. If a note or phone call is not received within 3 days, the absence will be unexcused. *Planned trips…send notes in advance. **If your child attends daycare, please let them know your child will be absent and or picked up early. 3. Conferences Formal conferences are scheduled in the Fall. Daily Conference time - 12:15 - 1:05 4. Dismissal 3:20 p.m. YOUR CHILD WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO CHANGE HIS/HER MODE OF TRANSPORTATION UNLESS WRITTEN NOTICE IS RECEIVED. An is acceptable. Please PUT IMPORTANT NOTES in your child’s folder, so that they can be attended to promptly. Please both the teacher and Mrs. Roberts with any dismissal changes, in case a teacher is absent. 5. 3 5. BackPacks Please have your child bring a large size backpack (labeled with his/her name) each day. This will help promote a sense of independence and responsibility. 6. Clothing Clothing should be washable, suitable for active play and appropriate for weather conditions. Clothing should be easy for the child to remove quickly and should not hinder his or her ability to care for bathroom needs. Shoes should be suitable for climbing and running and should provide adequate traction for these activities. (flip flops and slides are not appropriate). When the weather is cold, children should wear clothing warm enough for outdoor play. Sometimes students get cold; please keep a sweater or jacket in their backpack. Please pack extra clothes in their backpack as accidents do happen. All clothing must be CLEARLY MARKED WITH YOUR CHILD’S NAME to help us identify items which are not recognized by the children. UNCLAIMED ARTICLES are placed in the room for a short period and then sent to the "Lost and Found" in the cafeteria. 7. BEAR BRANCH BUZZ Every Monday, an containing the BUZZ, our school newspaper, will be sent to each family. The BUZZ includes BBE announcements and a calendar of events. 8. Take Home Folder Your child will bring home their Take Home Folder and school papers daily. Please look through and return the folder daily as this folder is a major form of communication and information.

4 9. Toys No toys should be brought to school unless requested. They often cause unnecessary disruption to our classroom. 10. Activity Fee Our $30.00 Bear Branch Activity Fee covers a variety of expenses including cooking activities, a field trip, crafts for class parties and other expenses. Your contributions are very much appreciated. 11. Specials Kindergarten will be attending Specials (P.E., Music, Library, Computer and Art) this year. Each class will have a different daily schedule. Your teacher will inform you of your child’s schedule. 12. Classroom Parties We will be having two parties for Kindergarten: Winter and Friendship 13. Pictures Individual pictures are taken in the fall. A class photo will be taken in early spring. School Memory Books may be ordered after January. 14. Snacks/Water Bottle Please send two snacks a day labeled with your student’s name. Water is the only liquid allowed in the classroom. Please make sure it has a sport top cap and not a twist off as this reduces spills! 15. Each student will be asked to bring in their own headphones to use daily in class. These need to be left at school the entire year. Please label with your child's name.

BBE Website: PTA tab: Join PTA and SIGN IN TO THE DIRECTORY - this is the only way you will have access to names and addresses for birthday invitations. We are not allowed to have invitations handed out on school property!! The directory is also a way for room moms to contact you about classroom and school events.

6 Field Trip Houston Zoo on March 24th We encourage you to chaperone!!
In order to chaperone or volunteer for anything at BBE, you MUST complete the Volunteer Background Check Application. You can find the link on the BBE website.

8 Dismissal Students who live in Bear Branch or Kings Forest are dismissed at the front of the building. Gazebo/playground- are not supervised Students who live in Hunter’s Ridge are dismissed from the back of the school. **follow the entrance and exit signs making a circular path through the back parking lot.

9 Dismissal Locations: Front Car: Front of the building
Front Walker: the picnic table located on the Tree Lane side of building Back Car: in the back of the building Bike Riders: the bike rack by the pavilion (this is not considered back walker - if you want to meet at the bike racks and walk, please label your child’s dismissal as a “Bike Rider” Back Walker (AKA the Gazebo/Park): We will bring students to the big tree and bench area near the walkway. Please meet your child there to cross to the park or have an older sibling pick up your kindergartener to cross to the park. THERE IS NO SCHOOL SUPERVISION AT THE PARK!

10 Back car riders will wait in the cafeteria
Inclement Weather For the safety of our students, we do not release bicycle riders or walkers during inclement weather. Please have a plan in place in case of inclement weather. Students will be dismissed either as front or back car rider (YMCA & daycare will dismiss as usual) Have a plan in place as your student will only be released to those you filled out on their emergency form Back car riders will wait in the cafeteria Front car riders will wait in the foyer until their car arrives.
