First, Berkow explains that symptoms commonly start with a short period of mental depression, restlessness, a sick feeling, and a fever. Restlessness increases to uncontrollable excitement, and the person produces a lot of saliva. PARAPHRASE: Berkow explains that a person with rabies show symptoms that begin with mental depression, fever, and restlessness. This restlessness becomes uncontrollable excitement, which leads to the production of a lot of saliva.
