“FOLLOWING THE GOOD SHEPHERD” – John 10:1-16
If the Lord would be your Shepherd, you must live like His sheep!

KEY THOUGHT The difference between the sinner and the saint is the same as between the goat and the sheep: the one is stubborn, the other is submissive. If you want to enjoy the benefits of God’s Kingdom, you must yield your life to Jesus and follow Him as a sheep does!

THE COMFORT OF A GOOD SHEPHERD
Psalm 23:1-6 shows us the benefits of our abiding Shepherd: Assurance & security: Psalm 23:1 Trust & belonging: John 10:3-5 Salvation & fullness: John 10:9-11 Rest & restoration: Psalm 23:2,3 Confidence & power: Psalm 23:4,5 Goodness & mercy: Psalm 23:6 In a lonely, hostile world, a present Shepherd is the security of the soul!

THE COMMITMENT OF OUR GREAT SHEPHERD
Jesus showed His love practically: His seeking ministry: Mat 18:11-14 Helping the needy: Mat 9:35-38 Rebuke of hirelings: Luke 13:11-16 His commission: Mat 10:5-8 His suffering: Mat 20:28 His care: John 21:1-6 His intercession: Heb 4:14-16; 7:25 You can surely say to yourself: “Jesus is always there for me!”

THE COMPLIANCE OF THE GODLY SHEEP
To enjoy the Shepherd’s provision: Embrace Him: Psalm 23:1 Receive His word: John 6:66-69 Cast your care on Him: 1 Pet 5:6,7 Rest on Him alone: Psa 73:23-26 Commune with Him: Jude 20,21 Follow Him closely: John 10:4,5 Testify for Him: 1 Pet 2:9-11 The submission of the godly sheep is voluntary, joyous and continual!
