Give a brief overview
The primary mission of the Student Health Center is to provide quality basic health and preventive services to the students of Bloomsburg University. Student Secretaries are employed primarily to provide front desk coverage at the Health Center as well as run errands and support Wellness events. Front desk coverage includes greeting/directing clients, answering the phone, taking messages, scheduling appointments, checking patients in and out, collecting payments and restocking/cleaning exam rooms. Employing students is critical to ensure that the front office runs smoothly and provides the student employees with valuable skills for their future employment.

6. Summary—Objective and Presentation
What did your data reveal? What did participants learn?
Analysis from the pre and post tests revealed improvement in all areas. Participants showed an increased awareness of the best methods for communicating, improved oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills. Students felt that they have learned how to collaborate, respect and work well with others. They felt their phone skills, general office skills, communication skills and people skills have all improved. In addition they gained knowledge on how to best handle a difficult client or parent. Students commented that they have an increased knowledge of medical terminology and better understanding of how a medical practice operates.

7. Recommendations
What could have been done differently? Based on collected data, what changes will you make to your program in the future?
The desired response to question #4 (I am surprised to find that people haven’t understood what I’ve said) is confusing. That question could have been worded better.
Having an online assessment in the future may be more user friendly.

8. Anticipated Changes From This Assessment
How will you use the data/information obtained to make changes?
I would like to do an exit interview with just the graduating students to get their input on how they were trained – what was helpful/what could be done better.
When training new workers, I will emphasize the importance of listening and good communication in addition to the actual mechanics of their job.
