3. Group Activity
Using the materials you have been given create a protective cover for your egg.
The team who can drop their egg from the highest point without breaking it wins.
Note: you have to be able to get the egg in/out of the protective cover!

What are the causes of exclusion and discrimination?
What are the consequences of exclusion and discrimination on the individual and wider community?
e.g. Everyday sexism (Tesco gender pay gap; Sainsbury Valentine card (card for men 50p more expensive than card for women); LGBT community; migrants, people of faith)
[Note: Migrants are different from asylum seekers who are not allowed to be employed. Think about how this might impact good and well-being of the society. What would be the consequences on the common good if policy was changed allowing asylum seekers to work].

9. KEY LEARNING
When one group is excluded or discriminated against it affects the whole community.
For my group to flourish/thrive and lead a good life it requires that ALL groups are have their needs met (our communities are interconnected).
What is happening in other countries has an impact on our local communities (our world is interconnected).
In South Africa this is called uBuntu (My well- being is dependent on the well-being of everyone).
Key learning points:
When one group is excluded or discriminated against it affects the whole community.
For my group to be able to flourish/thrive and lead a good life it requires that ALL groups are having their needs met (our communities are interconnected)

In South Africa this is called uBuntu (My well-being is dependent on the well-being of everyone).
This was an important part of what made South Africa’s peace process work. For the society to function well again there was an understanding among ‘black’ South Africans that perpetrators need to be offered forgiveness and given a chance to normal human being again by giving back to the society.
