What are the properties of Organic Compounds?
1. Solubility - Most organic compounds are non-polar which make them insoluble in polar solvents, like water. Example: Oil is organic. Oil and water don’t mix

2. Electrolytic Behavior - Since most organic compounds are covalent, they have no conductivity. An exception to this rule are organic acids, like acetic acid ( CH3COOH)

3. Melting and Boiling points - These are relatively low due to the weak forces of attraction between molecules (Vander Waals or weak dipoles).

4. Rates of Reaction - Generally slower then Inorganic compounds.

5. Bonding - Covalent bonding usually non-polar. Carbon has 4 valence electron so it will ALWAYS make 4 bonds. Example: Methane is CH4
