1 MEDLIFE: 1st spring Meeting
January 23rd, 2018

2 Welcome back! New officer Introductions: Co-President: Emilie Holloway
Co-President: Jessica Jones Vice President: Jagriti Vanam

3 What is MEDLIFE? MEDLIFE MISSION: to build a worldwide movement empowering the poor in their fight for equal access to healthcare, education and a safe home. MEDLIFE focuses the majority of their efforts in Latin America and Africa. MEDLIFE was founded by Nick Ellis in 2005 and their headquarters is currently located in Lima, Peru.

4 MEDLIFE: Values & PRINCIPLES:
Listening: Our priorities are driven by the communities we partner with Root Causes, Sustainable & Value Added Solutions: we work to understand the root causes posed by poverty and create sustainable and quality solutions. Structural Violence and A Preferential Option for the Poor: we provide high-quality services to the poor, not services slightly better than what they are accustomed to. Collaborative & Education Volunteering: Service Learning trips to help empower volunteers to make a sustainable difference. Rigorous Giving & Investment: Improving on current models of charitable work and investing in poor communities Transparency: Inspiring donor confidence.

5 ELECTIONS: We are still looking for individuals interested in running for Treasurer and Media & Advertising officer. Below is the Description of these positions are: Fundraising Officer/Treasurer: Responsible for keeping track of chapter finances. Also responsible for keeping track of fundraising efforts and will assist in planning/executing MEDLIFE fundraising events, both large and small scale. Media & Advertising Officer: Responsible for spreading the word on campus about MEDLIFE, i.e. through creating flyers or chalking. Also responsible for maintaining social media accounts, submitting Howl reports when necessary and documenting chapter activities through photographs.

6 Our Semester Goals: Increase membership and work to inform people about what MEDLIFE is and get them excited about being involved. Have at least 1 fundraising effort this semester (we can brainstorm as a group on ideas and what we think will work best for us) Establish a relationship with an organization we can volunteer with.

7 Volunteering: Raleigh Rescue Mission– Bridge the Gap- CASA - casa/volunteer-opportunities/ Feed the pack

8 Fundraising IDEAS: Our executive board is in the process of putting together a basket with various donated items to raffle off to raise money for our first fundraiser. If you know an organizations or people who are crafty or provide a service, please let us know! We are also looking into other fundraising options. Anyone with ideas please feel free to let us know!

9 – MARK YOUR CALENDARS! Our rest of the semester meetings are TENATIVELY set for the following days: February 6th, February 20th, March 13th, March 27th, April 10th and April 24th!
