TORO is located in the Maricunga Mining District
110 km SE from Copiapó city 20 km SW from the Cerro Casale Au-Cu deposit (Goldcorp-Barrick). The access is though the road to Cerro Casale up to the Sangre de Toro creek and along it to the south for 8 km TORO is an “Epithermal acid sulfate Gold-Silver prospect” The mining rights cover 900 Ha of concessions
4
Works performed: Access road Aerial magnetic survey with helicopter Soil geochemistry in 50x100 m grid (452 samples) over an area of 1,5 x1,4 km Geological mapping at 1: and 1:5.000 scale. Trenches and sampling 6 air reverse circulation drill holes with a total of meters
5
Geology The basement is a marine sequence of red and grey sandstones and conglomerates from Upper Jurassic to Lower Cretaceous. It is intruded by a feldspar and quartz eyes sub volcanic rhyodacitic dome The mineralization - hydrothermal alteration is associated to the rhyodacitic dome. An structural trend NNE is the main control of alteration and hydrothermal brecciation Many of the Gold-Silver values are related to the silicified rhyodacite, to hydrothermal breccias and to veinlets in sedimentary rocks, mainly in a NE trend.
6
Soil geochemistry of silver and gold The soil geochemistry grid show silver, gold, lead, zinc, arsenic and mercury anomalies in an area of m NS by 800 to m EW, open to S
7
Soil geochemistry of mercury and lead
8
Geophysics The TORO project is located in a magnetic low, associated to the areas of hydrothermal alteration. The main structural systems are NNE-SSW, EW and NS
9
Mineralization – Hydrothermal Alteration – Trenches and silver geochemistry
The gold-silver-lead-zinc-mercury mineralization is related to the rhyodacitic dome, with silicification and abundant quartz veinlets The presence of quartz and feldspar porphyries and the structural characteristics of the area are positive evidences of a possible gold-silver porphyry system of Maricunga type at depth It is necessary to perform an IP-Resistivity or CSAMT geophysical study and a program of drill holes reaching to 500 m deep
10
Drill holes performed Six RC drill holes with a total m were executed in the southern sector of the rhyodacite porphyry, with a maximum of 200 m and 60° angle 80 % of the area were not drilled The gold content increase at depth The lead content, as galena, is very high
12
The main drill hole intersections are
13
Expectative The geochemistry, geophysics and hydrothermal alteration suggest the possible existence of an ore body at depth, concealed beneath a cap, 100 to 150 m, of altered barren rocks with indications of ppb level of gold and silver By this reason is necessary to check at deep the possible presence of a “Gold – Silver porphyry” A CSAMT or IP- Resistivity at depth is required initially Finally a drill hole campaign of 6 to 8 holes 500m each
14
