Mark 7:21-23 21. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22. Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: 23. All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6. Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7. But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8. And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
“mind” = attitude, disposition “in you” = your life as a Christian “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.” Matt. 16:24 “Have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.”

Philippians 2:6. Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
“in the form of God = Time before he came to the earth “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Jn.1:1 “counted not the being on an equality with God a thing to be grasped” ASV “grasped” = held to with tenacity Our salvation depended upon his willingness to give up His place with God

And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. “fashion as a man” outward appearance “Humbled himself” = to bring low He could have lived in wealth and ease Not too proud to work with his own hands “Obedient unto death” Voluntary obedience Led to His death “death of the cross” - “who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross” Heb.12:2

Unselfish Selfish = concerned about oneself Unselfish = Generous, will to make a sacrifice for others Home - Husbands and wives ~ Parents and children Church – co-operation Community – cure many problems

Humility Luke 22:27 “For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.” “For who is greater, the one at the table or the one serving? Isn’t it the one at the table? But I am among you as the one who serves.” CSB

Humility 1 Pet. 5:6 “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:” Rom. 12:3 “not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think;” Phil. 2:3 “Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.”

Obedience Heb. 5:8-9 “Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; 9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;” John 6:38 “For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.” Rom. 15:3 “For even Christ pleased not himself”

He wanted to make it possible for us to have the salvation of our soul ! “bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ;” 2 Cor.10:5 Humility Humility Obedience Obedience
