MOTIVATED BY THE FEAR OF THE LORD (11-13) 5:10 “we will all appear before the judgement seat of Christ” Persuade men Vs13 if people think we are crazy, it is for God to judge or it is a matter between God and me, but it is always for the glory of God and for their benefit.

MOTIVATED BY THE LOVE OF CHRIST (14-17) Why is Paul driven to live such a selfless life? This should motivate us to live for Christ 2 Consequences: Vs16 Paul ceases to make superficial judgments based upon appearance Vs17 if you are in Christ you are a new creation

PAUL HAS BEEN GIVEN A MINISTRY OF RECONCILIATION (18-19) We cannot be minsters of this reconciliation unless we have first been reconciled to God ourselves The "message of reconciliation" has been committed to us.

PAUL PLEADS WITH THEM TO BE RECONCILED TO GOD (20-21) We plead for God and on Christ's behalf. Jesus became sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

PAUL URGES THEM NOT TO RECEIVE GOD'S GRACE IN VAIN (1-2) Paul’s passion… We try to persuade others. vs11 Christ’s love compels us. vs14 We are convinced. vs14 From now on... vs18 We implore you on Christ’s behalf. vs20 As God’s co-workers we urge you. vs1

PAUL URGES THEM NOT TO RECEIVE GOD'S GRACE IN VAIN (1-2) What does that mean? Refusing to purify themselves of everything that can contaminate the body and soul. Allowing a chasm to develop between faith and conduct. Embracing a different Gospel

PAUL URGES THEM NOT TO RECEIVE GOD'S GRACE IN VAIN (1-2) Paul’s appeal is serious and it is urgent. The time is now, today, nhasi. There is great danger if you delay. Do we sense the urgency of the times?

Paul’s deep desire not to get in the way of the people hearing and receiving the Gospel. He does not want to discredit his God-given ministry. The life of a Christian minister should be the most attractive advert for the Gospel.
