Forest plot of the prevalence rates of acne according to region. A total of 24 studies were included in this subgroup meta-analysis. Ten of these studies were conducted in Northern China and 14 studies were conducted in Southern China. Through analysing in a random effects model, the prevalence rates of acne in South was 46.3% (95% CI to 0.555) and 34.2% in North (95% CI to 0.458). The South (46.3%) had a higher prevalence of acne than the North (34.2%) in the subgroup analysis (Z=2.498, p=0.012).
