1 Pinot Noir Points of Difference
Fruit pulled from the Chenoweth Vineyard in the Green Valley area on the Russian River Valley, located in Sonoma; where hot, sunny days, and cool, foggy nights allow for perfect sugar and acidity development. The 30 acre vineyard is divided into unique blocks based on different microclimates and undergoes aggressive fruit thinning. Each block is comprised of one of seven clones. This vintage is a blend of 115, 23, and 37 clones. Despite the drought conditions, the quality of fruit this vintage was a superior representation of the Green Valley AVA Stainless steel, whole-cluster fermentation. Aged in French oak. (35% new French oak plus neutral oak). An exuberantly aromatic offering of red fruits, sweet vanilla and cigar tobacco, reflective of its cool-climate, high-elevation origins. Oak aging imparted subtle notes of anise, coriander and cinnamon spice, layered beautifully against a palate of strawberry and cherry. Fruit pulled from the Moretti and Mueller vineyards in Carneros. The Mueller vineyard (nestled in the southern end near Sonoma boarder) is flat, has thin soils, frequent wind and cloud cover. The Moretti Vineyard is on a mild slope with clay-loam soils. These sites create a deliberate and controlled ripening period resulting in balance, structure, intensity and complexity. The region’s earliest harvest on record and ensured optimal ripeness and excellent flavor development, depth, and complexity. Aged 15 months in 100% French oak (43% new). Aromas of black cherry, plum and earthy notes with a smoky oak character and baking spices. With its viscous palate, soft entry and smooth, fleshy texture, this wine delivers decadent flavors of strawberry, cherry, cola and notes of clove and black pepper. This wine concludes with spiced fruit compote and a lengthy oak finish. Sourced exclusively from the southern part of Napa Valley where the San Pablo Bay creates a cool, maritime climate with morning fog and cool breezes. Complex, layered fruit, earthy minerality, and exceptional natural acidity. Sorted, de-stemmed and gently crushed followed by a 6 to 9 day maceration period where Deléstage was employed. The result of this process is an aromatic character, enhanced color and flavor creating a soft, round tannin. Aged 10 months in 100% French oak. An elegant wine that delivers beautiful aromas of black cherry, blueberry, and an earthy herbaceous dried tea character that is complemented by a hint of cola, black pepper, and light spiciness. Abundant flavors of tart cherry, underlying eucalyptus and smoky–vanilla are framed by notes of mocha barrel toast. This well structured wine opens with a soft front but holds together with firm acidity and finishes strong with a long, lingering finish. 2 Pinot Noir Points of Difference
Sourced from three distinct Anderson Valley vineyards. Donnelly Creek is located in the slightly warmer part of the appellation (riper fruit), Ridge at Valley Foothills (30 year-old Jackson clone), Wiley–in the famed “Deep End,” (western most part of the valley resting on bench lands just ten miles from the Pacific Ocean). This vineyard is renowned for its bucolic setting and pristine fruit that is an appellation benchmark. Whole cluster and gently pressed to French and Hungarian oak; 228L barrels and 500L puncheons. Gravity is used to move the wine and is aged 10 months in French and Hungarian oak (33% new) to add texture and mouth feel without overwhelming the fruit and aroma character. Classic coastal Pinot Noir from Mendocino, aromas of strawberry, rhubarb, rose petal, raspberry, wild berry, crushed rock, wood smoke, red cherry. Soft entry and plush palate delivers berry patch flavors, orange peel notes, chalky, mineral driven finish. Bright acidity, fine grained tannin. Fruit sourced from the Sonoma Coast extending from the San Pablo Bay to the boarder of Mendocino County. This area is known for its cool climate and high rainfall compared to other parts of Sonoma County. Gently pressed and fermented before being aged 10 months in primarily French oak barrels (28% new) and showcases the best of what the Sonoma Coast has to offer: Rich, powerful and mouth-watering. Enticing aromas of black cherry, plum, soy, chocolate nibs and coffee. Rich and fleshy, this wine has supple flavors of ripe strawberry and vanilla oak. A smooth mouthfeel and precise balance of bright acid adds lift on the finish with red fruits popping through darker oak notes. Sonoma Coast AVA is mostly along the coastline of the Pacific Ocean, extending from San Pablo Bay to the border of Mendocino County and is known for its cool- climate and high rainfall relative to other parts of Sonoma County Aged in French oak barrels to add complexity and compliment the fruit. Good clarity and a soft, ruby color and aromas of light black cherry-earth, herbal notes, hints of teriyaki, rose petal, strawberry and raspberry. The juicy palate with a medium body and background of powder and minerality supports flavors of plum, cherry and strawberry with tobacco and coffee notes.
