What’s NEW for PED All distributors should be aware of UL’s mandate for gasoline dispensing hose assemblies effective 1/2013. OLD NEW This means dispensing assemblies must be purchased from a UL approved company such as ContiTech and every hose must be continuity and hydrostatically pressure tested along with designated UL sticker on fitting.

Alternative Fuels On The Rise
What’s NEW for PED Alternative Fuels On The Rise Ethanol: UL 330 now covers Ethanol blends up to E10 NEW UL Approval required for Ethanol up to E25 → UL 330A for E25 fuels Ethanol up to E85 UL 330A for E85 Different requirements for E25 vs E85 Biodiesel: UL 330 now covers Biodiesel blends up to B5 NEW UL Approval required for Biodiesel up to B20 → UL 330B

DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) Dispensing Hose
What is DEF? DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) is an aqueous 32.5% solution of high-purity urea in deionized water and is key components of selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems, which help diesel vehicles meet stringent emission regulations (eff. date Jan 1, 2010). DEF is a liquid reducing agent that reacts with engine exhaust in the presence of a catalyst to convert smog-forming nitrogen oxides (NOx) into harmless nitrogen and water vapor.

DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) Dispensing Hose
Available in 3 different factory-made assemblies. Also available are 3 different bulk fittings. (3/4” only). Pricing & Crimp Specs are now available as shown in these tables. STAINLESS STEEL FITTINGS ONLY Any company who installs a fitting on Continental ContiTech DEF hose takes responsibility for correct fitting installation, hose/fitting compatibility, and grounding. This recommended crimp OD is only for the fittings above on Continental ContiTech DEF hose sold and manufactured by Continental ContiTech to be used specifically for DEF dispensing. The company installing the fitting must develop its own proper installation and quality control procedures. The installer must test and verify hose/fitting compatibility and ensure proper grounding. If requested, Continental ContiTech will test coupled assemblies and report the test results back to the company who installed the fittings.

Electrically Conductive?
Some applications require a hose to be electrically conductive. Application specific. Conductivity or static dissipative properties are achieved through specially formulated compounds and/or adding wire to the hose, either static wire or a helix.
