She said, This is horrible. He said that he wanted a drink. We use say when we ask about language. (Nous utilisons «say» quand nous nous interrogeons sur une traduction.) How do you say book in French ? When we use this greetings, we use: say hello /goodbye/ thank you/ Happy Birthday / Congratulations. Say (said in the past tense) is not followed immediately by a person. («Tell» est généralement suivie immédiatement par une personne. Ce nest pas le cas de «say» He told me his name.
