1 University entrance • Here are general recommendations regarding entry requirements to universities. • There can be changes and it differs between universities and countries. • It’s important that the students look closely into this now, no subject changes in IBDP1.

2 • Medicine: Sweden, Denmark, some univ in Europe: Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Math SL or HL (Denmark Math HL) • Medicine: UK, USA: Chemistry HL, Biology HL, Math SL or HL • Engineering in general: Physics and Chemistry, both on HL recommended, Math SL or HL • Engineering: Sweden (in general) Physics SL, Chemistry SL and Math SL

3 Law: History SL/HL, high grades in HL Subjects Psychology: Psychology HL recommended, high grades in HL Subjects. History: History HL recommended, high grades in HL Subjects. Economics: Economics and/or Business and management, HL recommended and Math SL or HL. Architecture: UK, in general Physics SL, Math SL and a Portfolio, big difference between universities. Architecture: Sweden, Math Studies SL, Environmental system and societies SL or two science subjects.

4 Non regular diploma Biology + Chemistry + Physics Non regular Diploma • Yes, it is possible to chose all three science subjects and no humanities subject => Non regular Diploma • It’s only accepted if needed for entry requirements to universities. For example Medicine or Veterinarian studies in Sweden. • Has to be applied for by the Coordinator at IBO. Feedback first in November in DP1.

5 Can the students change their choices? • Yes, during spring term in PDP if there are place available in the groups. • Change in DP1? - No changes of subject - Until December  okay to change level/s.

8 Application to Universities in Sweden Entry requirements for all courses at Swedish universities -Swedish A (Literature or Language & Literature SL or HL) -A complete Diploma with at least 24 points Admission for Swedish universities -Group 1 = Students with final grades from Exam (Both DP-students and students from Svenskt gymnasieprogram) -Group 2 = Students with Retake or grades from Komvux (Both DP- students and students from Svenskt gymnasieprogram) -Group 2  Much greater competition for places than in Group 1.

9 Meritpoäng only for application to universities in Sweden 2,5 • IBDP students can get up to 2,5 meritpoäng that will be added to the final IBDP grades. • We are waiting for the final decision regarding meritpoäng from Högskoleverket, www.hogskoleverket.se www.hogskoleverket.se
