4 Symmetry A figure has symmetry if there is an isometry that maps the figure onto itself. There are 4 kinds of symmetry Vertical Line Symmetry Horizontal Line Symmetry Point Symmetry Rotational Symmetry

5 Vertical Line Symmetry A figure has vertical line symmetry if you draw a vertical line down the middle of the figure and the left side is mapped onto the right side of the figure at every point. Ex: M

6 Horizontal Line Symmetry A figure has horizontal line symmetry if you draw a horizontal line across the middle of the figure and the top is mapped onto the bottom of the figure at every point. Ex: D

7 Point Symmetry A figure has point symmetry if you rotate the object 180 degrees and it maps onto the original image. Ex: N
