5. Idleness ruins a person!
“The sluggard saith, There is a lion in the way; A lion is in the streets. As the door turneth upon its hinges, So doth the sluggard upon his bed. The sluggard burieth his hand in the dish; It wearieth him to bring it again to his mouth. The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render a reason.” (Prov. 26:13-16)
It fills with excuses, v. 13
It genders a love of ease and self-indulgence, v.14
It makes all exertion a bother, v. 15

Teaching them to shun the characteristics of a sluggard
Prov. 13:4, “The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing…”
Prov. 20:4, “The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.”

8. What will help our children to take warning about pleasure?
Teaching them to have a healthy fear of “the good life,” Lk. 12:21
