Chapter 13-1 Delayed Marriage – The tendency to marry at older ages. »1) Being single is accepted »2) College and career comes before marriage »3)People live together instead of getting married is now generally acceptedbut not by Mr. Brady. Remarriages –Marriages in which one or both of the partners has been married before. Blended Families – Families in which one or both partners bring children from a previous marriage into the new marriage. Two-income Families – Families in which both partners work.

Chapter 13-1 Single-parent Families – Families with only one parent, typically formed through divorce, widowhood, adoption by single people, and births to single women. Chapter 13-2 Family Law –The legal regulation of marriage, divorce, and the duties of parents and children. Child Abuse – The mental, physical, or sexual mistreatment of a child. Foster Homes – Homes of people who are unrelated to a child but who agree to act as the childs caregivers.

Chapter 13-2 Guardian –A person appointed by a state court to look after an individual who is not an adult or who is unable to care for himself or herself. Adopt – To legally establish a child as ones own. Divorce – A legal ending of a marriage. No-fault Divorce – A divorce in which a couple states the marriage has problems that cannot be resolved.
