at the beginning of every sentence Example: Today is Monday. when talking about yourself - ‘I’ Example: I went to the shops. to begin first names, surnames and titles Example: Mary Murphy, An Taoiseach, Mr, Ms

for initials and abbreviations
Example: J. B. (Jordan Belmaine) U.S.A. (United States of America) GPO (General Post Office) for days of the week, months of the year and holidays Example: Friday, March, St. Patrick’s Day for brand names Example: Coca Cola, Nike, Nestle

for the names of places ( continents, countries, provinces, counties, cities, towns, mountains, rivers, lakes, streets, parks, buildings) Examples: Europe, Ireland, Leinster, Cork, Dublin, Sligo, Wicklow Mountains, River Liffey, Lough Derg, Fleet Street, Hyde Park, Belcamp Village Centre to begin keywords in titles Examples: School of Rock, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas
