Astronomy 100 Whats the Scope?
2
ANSWER NOW: Sketch a telescope. SECOND GOAL: understand why we need telescopes, how a telescope works, and that you need different scopes for different reasons/types of light.
3
Here are 3 Telescopes Split into 3 groups. One person record. One person report back. Everyone contribute. Identify the different parts of your telescope. You dont need to use the right words, but pick out and give a name to each of the parts you think is important. Good Example: the tube – very important. Bad Example: the screws holding something together. Do I care? No.
4
Do the different telescopes have all the same parts, or are there differences?

What does a telescope DO? Main lens/mirros – Collect LOTS of light, focus it down. – NOT MAGNIFYING Eyepiece – MAGNIFIES – Bigger number, bigger eyepiece, less magnification
