3 Great Sphinx A mythological creature that came from a legend which means strangler A creature with a pharaoh's head and a lion’s body It is 240 ft. long and 66 ft. wide The history of it is a mystery When it was found it was almost buried in the sand

4 The Great Pyramid Built for King Khufu It used to be over 480 ft. tall It was made with over 2,000,000 stone blocks The base of it is as big as 10 football fields It is located near the Great Sphinx which is near the city of Cairo (the capital)

5 The Valley of the Kings King Tutankhamen was buried here It is in a very rocky valley which is close to the city of Thebes It was used as a cemetery for early kings Over 60 tombs have been found here

10 Different Theories on Creation Some believe that their gods made the earth. Some believe that the true God made the earth. Some believe that one day the earth just appeared.

12 Joseph He was loved most by his parents His parents made him a coat of many colors His brothers disliked him so much that they sold him into slavery The people that bought him took him to Egypt There he worked to become a vizier to pharaoh

13 The Israelites They became slaves in Egypt They got there when Joseph’s family came to Egypt. Then a different pharaoh took over and thought the Israelites became too large in number. So he made them slaves. Moses led to Joseph

14 Moses Moses lived in Egypt Moses’ mother saved him from the pharaoh’s soldiers When Moses got older he led the slaves out of Egypt

15 Mary, Joseph, and Jesus Mary and Joseph traveled to Bethlehem Jesus was born When the wise men saw King Herod on the way to see Jesus Herod told them to bring back Jesus so he could kill him The wise men didn’t bring Jesus back Herod was so angry he decided to kill all the baby boys so he could kill Jesus God told Joseph to flee to Egypt Joseph and his family fled to Egypt

17 Type of Writing It was called hieroglyphics Hieroglyphics are pictures used as writing in Ancient Egypt

18 Rosetta Stone A stone that is called the key to unlocking the history of Egypt It was found by the French in 1799 It is called the key to unlocking the history because the words on it are written in three different languages-one that we can understand another is hieroglyphics
