1. David: A Man After God’s Own Heart He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, “I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will” (Acts 13:22). But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

2. David Loved the Word of God Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day (Ps. 119:97). He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him… (Jn. 12:48). …For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God (1 Cor. 2:10-12).

3. David Hid God’s Word in His Heart Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You (Ps. 119:11). But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin (1 John 1:7). Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God (1 John 3:9).

4. David Loved To Praise God I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well (Ps. 139:14). I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go into the house of the LORD” (Ps. 122:1). And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers (Acts 2:42).

5. David Confessed His Sins For I acknowledge my transgressions, And my sin is always before me (Ps. 51:3). Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much (Jas. 5:16). For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad (2 Cor. 5:10).

6. David Watched His Tongue I said, “I will guard my ways, Lest I sin with my tongue; I will restrain my mouth with a muzzle, While the wicked are before me” (Ps. 39:1). But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison (Jas. 3:8). Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom (Jas. 3:13). If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless (Jas. 1:26).

7. David Hated Every False Way Through Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way (Ps. 119:104). But this you have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate (Rev. 3:6). Devil and his ministers: These are wells without water, clouds carried by a tempest, for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever. For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped from those who live in error. While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage (2 Pet. 2:17-19).

8. David Loved Unity Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! (Ps. 133:1). A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another” (Jn. 13:34). But concerning brotherly love you have no need that I should write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another; and indeed you do so toward all the brethren who are in all Macedonia. But we urge you, brethren, that you increase more and more; that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you, that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing (1 Thess. 4:9-12).
