1. Camp Shady Brook September 22-23, 2014

2. Purpose  This field trip ties in with character education and helps students learn the value of working as a team all while building their confidence through the planned activities.  Shady Brook is an overnight activity September 22-23, 2014.  We will need lots of volunteers to act as chaperones!

3. Cost  $57.00 for students  $30.00 for all chaperones,  Includes a basic meal plan for breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided by the staff at Shady Brook.  This price does not include the bus fare, that price will be determined at a later date once we have the final number for the students and parents who will be participating.  payment options:  #1 – you can pay full price before May 12, 2014. OR  #2 – you can pay half now  $28.50 for student before May 12, 2014  $15.00 for chaperone before May 12, 2014  other half in August when we return from summer break (due date TBD).

4. Entrance to Shady Brook YMCA Camp Shady Brook is located 70 minutes northwest of Colorado Springs and 90 minutes southwest of Denver at 8716 South Y Camp Rd, Deckers CO 80135.

6. Lodging  All cabins are cozy bunkhouse style with bunk beds  4 lodges with adjoining restroom/shower  facilities and covered deck  12 rustic cabins; 6-14 beds  Participants provide their own bedding.

8. Camp Fire and Songs/Stories and S’mores!  Camp Shady Brook has a variety of location options where their staff will perform a fun interactive program ending with s’mores!

13. Archery  A camp favorite, archery builds self- confidence as students learn technique and safety procedures while aiming for a bulls eye at our target sports range.

15. Climbing Wall  Students will learn the basics of climbing on the 30 foot rock wall.  Instructors belay students one at a time in the challenging activity.

20. Chaperones  Need to have 2 for every 20 kids  Expectations for Chaperones  Always have two adults when children are present  Always stay with your group of children  Know who the kids are in your group (names and total number)

What to Bring  Sleeping Bag  Pillow  Jacket  Rain Coat  Long Pants/Sweats  Shorts (if weather appropriate)  T-Shirts  Undergarments  Pajamas  Socks and Shoes (like tennis shoes or hiking boots)  Flashlight  Water Bottle  Comb/brush  Toothbrush and Toothpaste  Sunscreen (SPF 15 min.)  Hat with visor  Mosquito repellent (non- aerosol)  Rash Guard/Moisture-wicked T-s  Insect repellent must be in the form of lotion, wipes, or non-aerosol bottles.  Aerosol cans become a safety hazard around other children and around the campfire.
