Essential Question What do I need to know and be able to do to write a well crafted book review?

What is a book review? A description, critical analysis, and an evaluation of a book It is not a retelling It should focus on the book’s content

How do I write one? Read and analyze your book Use graphic organizer for notes Create an outline/review of the book by summarizing the book

Intro Paragraph – The Necessities State the name of the book, the author, the publisher, and year it was written A strong statement of your opinion of the book and why you think this.

What else should I include in my review? Examples from the book that back up your opinion Discuss the genre – What is the genre? Does it fit well into the genre? Describe a scene that sticks out in your mind

What else is included? Provide background information on the author Is the book a prequel or sequel to another Give the book a rating – Would you recommend it to others and why.
