Two Forms of Verse Blank verse is unrhymed poetry meaning there is no rhyme at the ends of lines. Rhymed verse is speech that is written in a rhyming pattern. When Shakespeare rhymes, he usually creates couplets.

Couplets Couplets are two consecutive lines of poetry that rhyme
Example: “She is too fair, too wise, wisely too fair, To merit bliss by making me despair. She hath forsworn to love, and in that vow Do I live dead that live to tell it now.”

Now You Try! Work in pairs to identify 3 examples of couplets in any of the scenes we’re read so far. Write the couplets and page numbers they appear on down in your notes.
