1 Live in Mary queen of Scots time. All about live back then. By Gail Stewart.

2 Mary became queen when she was only 6 days old. Her mother was Mary of Guise. Her farther was James the V. James died just after Mary was born. Mary spent most of her childhood in France and got married to Frances II of France. When Mary was old enough to rule. She married her cousin Lord Darnley.

3 Rich Clothes Rich people had beautiful clothes. Women clothes were very big because of the garments they wore under their dress. Men wore huge coalers some woman wore them as well. Here are some pictures of what rich women and men would wear.

4 Rich Houses Rich people’s houses were very different from poor people’s houses. Rich people’s houses were very big and were made of wood. They had lots of rooms including a great many bedrooms.

5 Rich Food The rich loved their food. They would have stuff like peacock, Hens, Ducks, Blackbirds, Swan,Boar and Deer. They loved their meat and hardly ate vegetables as it was considered the food of the poor. They also ate toast. They ate with silver spoons and knives.

6 Poor Clothes The poor were very different from the rich. They didn’t have any where near the clothes the rich had instead they had RAGS ! They had holes in them and only little hats. If you look back at slide 3 you will see the differentness in the clothes.

7 Poor Houses Poor houses were very different from the rich. The poor had no were near as big as the rich they didn’t have a lot of rooms. In fact they only had 1 or 2 and slept on mattresses stuffed with straw.

8 Poor Food Poor people normally just had vegetables. Sometimes they would have bread, fish from rivers and lakes they would have any meat they could find. They also drank ale even the children. They ate with wooden spoons and knives after they had cut the meat they ate it with their fingers. Forks were not invented.

9 Transport In Mary Queen of Scots time transport couldn’t have been more different. The poor would have to walk from place to place. The rich would travel in carriages that way they could avoid getting their clothes and shoes dirty. They also went in boats.

10 Jobs The poor had to work six days a week. They rich did have to work but not as much as the poor. The kinds of jobs the poor had to do was helping shepherds and working for the rich. They only had Sundays off and public holidays. The rich might of owned factories were they employed young people to work. They could ‘ve been a dealer or worked for the King in which would result in them being very rich.
