Info Trac is a collection of databases that has magazine/journal articles, newspaper articles, and books on a variety of topics. Click or use the arrow keys to advance to the next slide

Several databases are automatically selected. Search them all at once, or select only those databases you want, and click Continue. Select Databases Click Continue

3 Search Types are Available Subject Search – Search by main topic One Search – Quick basic search Advanced Search – Combine terms and add limits for a more precise search

InfoTrac automatically opens to a Subject Search These are the main topics (subject terms) that include the words “global warming” Click the + sign to see subdivisions of each topic

Subdivisions of Global Warming Total number of articles about global warming Articles about the Economic Aspects of Global Warming. Click the words “Economic Aspect” to see the articles.

Subject Search Results List Check “full-text” to see only those citations with links to the complete article

Select where you want to search for your terms Click the tips link for more info on advance searching Instead of doing a broad keyword search, try a title, subject, or abstract search for results that focus on your topic

Options for Limiting your Search Do you need scholarly/peer-reviewed articles? Graphics or photographs? Full-text (link to the complete article)? You can choose what format you need, such as audio, video, language, etc. limit by date, publication title or subject

Using LinkSource InfoTrac contains only the abstract (summary) of some articles. Click LinkSource to search other databases for the complete article.

Other ways to obtain articles We may own the article in print. Search for the Journal Title If we do not own the article in print, we can try to get it for you from another library. Just fill out an Interlibrary Loan Request www.fhsu.edu/library/ILL/index.shtm l in the Online Catalog to see if we have the issue you need, or ask a librarian for help.

For Distance Students If you cannot find the full-text of the article you need by using Get Article/LinkSource, you can request it through Distance Services: www.fhsu.edu/library/distance/index.shtml OR send an e-mail containing the article citation to: refserv@fhsu.edu

Creating a free account in InfoTrac You can create an account that will allow you to mark and save articles, save searches, and receive new search results by RSS feed or e-mail.
