9 Selection Guide – Step 1 Measure belt thickness with the Clipper® Hook Gauge, Micrometer or Caliper. If the belt has an impression cover remove the impression prior to measuring the thickness.

10 Selection Guide – Step 2 Check the beltline for the smallest pulley that has at least a 90° wrap. Measure pulley diameter.

11 Selection Guide – Step 3 Referencing the Fastener Selection Chart, identify possible fastener choices based on the belt thickness and minimum pulley diameter.

12 Selection Guide – Step 4 Select wire diameter. Smaller Diameter:
Less noise as the splice contacts conveyor components. Less wear on conveyor components. Larger Diameter: Added strength from increased wire mass. Added wear resistance.

ClipMark™ Series Hooks

14 Carded Hooks Each hook is individually loaded onto a ‘carding paper’.
Carding paper is used to secure the hooks during installation. Two styles of carding paper available. Paper style is dependent upon hook size.

15 Unibar® Hooks Each individual hook is welded to a common bar.

16 Advantages of Unibar® Hooks
Easier handling. Hook legs remain parallel when installed. Easier meshing of belt ends and easier pin insertion. No ‘belt wave’. Minimal chance of an individual hook dislodging. Patented Safety Strip protects fingers from hook points. Custom lengths mm (4”-60”).

Crowned pulleys. Troughing applications. Bias splices. Specific metal requirements.

Ideal for European style belting and Filter Media materials. Shaped Wire: 0.7mm (.027”) high X 0.9mm (.036”) wide. Low profile splice with added strength. Available in Carded or Unibar® configurations.

ClipMark Hooks (Green): .7mm (.027”) high x .9mm (.036”) wide. Offers low profile, high strength. #25 Hooks (Red): .6mm (.024”) round. Slightly lower profile than ClipMark hooks, but significantly less strength. #30 Hooks (Blue): .8mm (.030”) round. Slightly higher profile and lower strength than ClipMark hooks

20 Selection Guide – Step 6 Select hook leg length.
The larger the hook, the longer the reach back. Under normal conditions it is recommended to use a shorter leg length for less fatigue. Under conditions where failures have occurred due to fastener comb out or under severe tension, use a longer reach back.

21 Selection Guide – Step 7 Select the metal that is most appropriate for the application. Some typical wire include: Galvanized - All purpose. High Tensile - Added abrasion resistance and added strength. 430 and 316 Stainless - Corrosion resistance and food applications.

Portable method to install Clipper® hooks on-site. One person is able to lace wide belts. Uses dual rollers to embed hooks into the belt.

24 Microlacer® Laces up to 350mm (14”) at a time.
Continuous lacing feature. Belt clamp adjusted by turning knobs.

25 Production Lacers Ideal for high volume lacing that does not require lacing to be done at the job site.

Laces up to 300mm (12”) at a time. Continuous lacing feature. Installs all Clipper® hooks.

High speed installation. Ideal for high volume repetitive lacing. 300mm, 635mm and 965mm (12”, 25” and 38”) models available. Continuous lacing feature. Laces all Clipper® hooks.

28 Pro 6000 Lacer Laces 350mm (14”) at a time.
Combs available up to 1500mm (60”) long. Continuous lacing feature. Laces all Clipper® hooks and Alligator® Lacing sizes 00, 1, 7 and 15.

29 Pro 6000 Lacer - Continued Multiple gauge pins allow users to customize loop profiles. Patented jaw action rotates jaws closed while simultaneously pulling down the comb. Adjustable pressure, jaw closure time and heat pressure. Jaws can be heated to allow for easier penetration of fasteners and lower profile splice.

30 Pro 600 Lacer Same as the Pro 6000 except the lacer does not have the heated jaw option.

35 Clipper® 845LD Belt Cutter
Portable cutter for belts up to 50mm (1/2”) thick. Available in 900, 1200, 1500 and 1800 mm (36”, 48”, 60” and 72”) widths. Blade is enclosed for a safe operation. Quick method to achieve an accurate cut.

36 14” Belt Cutter Cuts belts up to 9mm (3/8”) thick and 350mm (14”) wide. Built-in squaring arm. Quick, one stroke operation. Belts can be cut in the middle of the roll by opening the end of the cutter.

37 #25 Tape Cutter Cuts cotton woven laundry tapes up to 100mm (4”) wide and 3mm (1/8”) thick in one, quick sliding motion.

38 Leader Assemblies Smaller diameter rigid pin (leader) is mechanically attached to the larger diameter flexible pin. Leader is inserted through the splice first so the connecting pin can be easily pulled into place. Simplifies pin insertion into wide belts.

39 Accessories Plastic Hook Gauge – Assists with selecting the proper hooks for the application. Unibar® Wire Cutters – Hand held tool used to shorten strips of Unibar® fasteners.

40 Accessories Carding Paper Remover – Tool to simplify the removal of carding paper from hooks. Silver Ink Belt Marking Pen – Can be used to help square the belt, date splices, etc. Scissors – Used to cut Carded hooks to the appropriate length. Accessory Kits – Includes hook gauge, carding paper remover, scissors and skiver.

41 Accessories Smart Locks – Small metal device that fits over the last 3 hooks on a baler splice to protect the splice from catching and ripping out. Tape Binder – Used in the laundry industry to bind cotton woven belts prior to installing Clipper® hooks.
