3 Target Vocabulary Core: look Fringe: witch spider bat ghost scarecrow vampire cat

4 Teaching Ideas Teach the target vocabulary first. Before using with your student, preview the animations to best support communication opportunities. Read the book together; ask questions that support use of the target vocabulary (the idea is NOT for the student to copy icon sequences). The adult should maintain control of the mouse to highlight the object if the student has trouble locating it. Use a 5-second time delay after transitioning to a slide to allow the student time to initiate with the core verb “look,” before providing additional prompting. Skip articles like “the” and “a” until student has mastered the core vocabulary. Look up other words; pivot off the core vocabulary to include fringe (i.e., “Look witch”).
