1 Cor 15:33 Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. Two Great Lies About Influence: I will not be influenced by the people or things that surround me. I am not accountable if I am influenced by others to sin.

3 “Be Not Deceived” 1 Cor 6:9-10 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

4 “Be Not Deceived” Gal 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. We can deceive others and ourselves, but God is never fooled.

7 Temptation Grows When we do not appreciate blessings
When we get vague about sinning When God is viewed as an obstacle to our having fun When we exaggerate restrictions When we doubt the penalty will come

8 The First Lie In Genesis 3
Ye shall not surely die (Gen. 3:4-6) He removes the penalty for disobedience He questions God’s motives in the command He provides positive incentive to disobey Eve gives into the influence, persuades Adam, and they become corrupted (I Cor. 15:33)

9 Greatest Lies Are The Ones We Tell Ourselves
We can remedy the problem (Gen. 3:7) The fig leaf aprons did not cover their sin nor their flesh (Gen. 3:21) Perhaps first animal sacrifice for sin We make our own fig leaf contraptions for removing the symptoms of sin (reinvent God, redefine sin, erase concept of hell…)

We can hide from God (Gen. 3:8-11) We push guilt away from our minds We stay so busy we can’t face our fears We distract ourselves with recreation Gal 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
