The Periodic Table
2
103 Elements!?! How can we possibly keep track of 103 elements and all of their properties In 1867 Dmitri Mendeleev created cards with the properties of all the know elements He then organized them based on similar properties until he found a pattern. This became the periodic table. As more elements were discovered and made they were added to the periodic table until we had all 103 elements put in order

What Is On The Periodic Table?
Each element is listed with its Name, symbol, atomic number, atomic mass and ion charge Atomic number is the number of protons in the nucleus of each atom of an element Atomic Mass is the mass of the atom measured in Atomic Mass Units Ion Charge is the electric charge formed when an atom gains or loses electrons

Information on the Table
-2 S Sulphur 32.1 Ion Charge Atomic Number Symbol Name Atomic Mass

So How Many Particles Are There?
The number of protons is equal to the atomic number. This is also the number of electrons The number to Neutrons is equal to the atomic mass (rounded to the nearest whole number) minus the number of protons ex Cholrine: Atomic Number = 19 Atomic Mass = 35.5 Number of Neutrons = 36 – 19 = 17
