1. Day 47 Bell stART Elements of Design Write in your sketch book: Use your photo-copied collage as a source to draw a new composition that will be painted in a monochromatic, one-color scheme. You will need: The photo-copy of your collage, your pencil, a ruler and a sheet of 9 X 12 watercolor paper. (*Reminder: You will need your paint brush on Thursday)

2. Todays objective: First, choose an aesthetically pleasing 4 X 5 portion of your photo-copied collage to enlarge. 2. Use the grid method, (the same method used for your self- portrait) to transfer the selected area 3. Using a pencil, create a 4 x 5" area using a pencil over the top of your photo-copied collage. Then mark off one inch units for your grid. 4. Draw a grid of equal ratio, 2 squares, on the watercolor paper. Your picture plane will be an 8 X 10 rectangle. 5. Focus on one square at a time, until the entire image has been transferred. Erase the grid lines when you are finished. 6. Your goal is to complete the linear enlargement by the end of class today

3. Day 48 Bell stART ELEMENTS of DESIGN-COLOR Write in your sketch book: Color is light reflected off objects. Color has three main characteristics: 1. hue or its name (red, green, blue, etc.) 2. value (how light or dark it is) 3. intensity (how bright or dull it is).

4. Tomorrows goal-- 1.On the paper provided create a monochromatic value scale. Use a pencil, draw a rectangle, 2 X 5, then divide into 1 squares. 2.With a brush mix your paint on a palette to create values. 3.Apply the value with an even brush stroke to fill each area. 4.First, paint the tints, then the shades

5. The purpose of this assignment is to introduce color values by blending one color of paint with black and white to give a variety of value changes. This color relationship or color scheme is known as monochromatic. Mixing white and your color, also known as tints create light values. Mixing black and your color, also known as shades creates dark values. Today your teacher will demonstrate how to work successfully in your classroom with your new medium of acrylic paint.

7. Day 49 Bell stART Color Write in your sketch book: Tints- Mix white with your color to create light values Shades- Mix black and your color to create dark values Todays goal: 1. Choose one color with your tablemates, to share on one palette. 2. Then, mix the values to brush/paint in the one inch units of your monochromatic scale. 3. Begin with tints 4. Mixing can be a group effort. 5. Good craftsmanship is expected

8. Day 50 Bell stART Color Write in your sketch book: 1. Your monochromatic scale will be graded on good craftsmanship. 2. What is the criteria for good craftsmanship in the scale you painted? 3. Write down two characteristics in your sketch book. You may confer with your tablemates. Today you will use the class time to finish your value scale, then staple it into your sketch book.
