Day 18 Bell stART ELEMENTS of DESIGN Write in your sketch book: Craftsmanship--one who creates or performs with skill or dexterity especially in the manual arts; plus, whose work is consistently of high quality

Todays Goals 1. Share your homework drawing that focused on the negative/ground of the still life you set- up. ***For the critique, consider: the placement of the figures in the picture plane, the choice of medium and craftsmanship 2. Complete your india ink composition 3.Use pens to add detail to the positive/figure areas 4.At the end of class hand-in the finished work with your name and period number on the back for a grade

Day 19 Bell stART ELEMENTS of DESIGN Write in your sketch book: scientific perspective: a method of representing three- dimensional objects on a two-dimensional picture plane. In scientific perspective all parallel edges and lines converge as orthogonals toward a vanishing point. Terms you should know: Horizon line/eye level Vanishing Point Othogonal During the Renaissance, artists became very interested in making two-dimensional artworks look three-dimensional. They used mathematics and close observation to invent linear perspective

Filippo Brunelleschi (1377 – April 15, 1446) was one of the foremost architects and engineers of the Italian Renaissance. most famous for inventing linear perspective and designing the dome of the Florence Cathedral his accomplishments included bronze artwork, architecture (churches and chapels, fortifications, a hospital, etc), mathematics, engineering (hydraulic machinery, clockwork mechanisms, theatrical machinery, etc) and even ship design.

Day 20 Bell stART ELEMENTS of DESIGN Write in your sketch book: Linear Perspective drawing must include: CITY STREETS OR INTERIOR ROOM Use pencil and ruler Use one-point or two-point perspective Draw picture plane-- ½ from edge of paper 7 large (believable) objects or buildings Multiple Details-- windows, doors, floor cover, etc. A sign of life--human, animal, vegetation

Day 21 Bell stART ELEMENTS of DESIGN Write in your sketch book: Artists use one-point perspective to show forms face-on. Two-point perspective is useful to show an angle Your Linear Perspective drawing of a city or interior space is due at the beginning of class on: Monday, 9/16 or Tuesday 9/17
