Lewis & Clark’s Expedition was started at St. Louis, Missouri on May 21, 1804 They left with 33 other men They were sent President Jefferson to explore the newly acquired Louisiana Purchase The goal was to reach the Pacific Ocean(about 2,120 miles)

Only woman of the 33 members of the expedition Was brother of Chief Cameahwait who helped lead the expedition Served as translator and peacemaker between explorers and Indians Had 2 kids, one of which was on the expedition Was 16 years old during the expedition She died at 25 years old due to serious illness

Shoshones-tribe that kidnapped Sacagawea Teton Sioux- Had their only real fight with the explorers because the tribe felt threatened
