1 READ This It is He Who created the Night and the Day, and the sun and the moon: all (the celestial bodies) swim along, each in its rounded course. ( 21:33) Now we know a lot about the Sun but be truthful that till the mid of 20 th Century we believed that Sun do not move. Whereas, Allah(swt), revealed this in the Quran 1400 Years ago THE SUN ROTATES It was a time when humans believed that Earth is standing motionless in the center of the Universe and all celestial bodies revolve around it’. Then it was said that NO, the Sun is in the center and all others revolve around it. Then they discovered that objects not only move around the Sun but also revolve around their own axis.

2 READ This “And the Sun runs its course for a period determined for it; that is the decree of (Him) the exalted in Might, the All- Knowing.” [Al-Qur’an 36:38] THE SUN WILL EXTINGUISH Now we know that the light of the sun is due to a chemical process on its surface that has been taking place continuously for the past five billion years. Also that It will come to an end at some point of time in the future, when the sun will be totally extinguished But was it known to humans 1400 Years ago, NO, it was not ! But Allah(swt), the one who created it surely knew it and he revealed it in the Quran

3 It is He who made the sun to be a shining glory and the moon to be a light (of beauty).” [Al- Quran 10:5] MOONLIGHT IS REFLECTED LIGHT The Arabic word for the moon is Qamar and it is described in the Quran as Muneer which is a body that gives Noor i.e. reflected light. Whereas the Arabic word for the sun in the Quran, is shams. It is also referred to as Siraaj which means a ‘torch’ or as wahhaaj meaning ‘a blazing lamp’ or as diya which means ‘shining glory’. Not once in the Quran, is the moon mentioned as siraaj, wahhaaj or diya nor the sun as noor or muneer. This implies that the Quran recognizes the difference between the nature of sunlight and moonlight. هُوَ الَّذِي جَعَلَ الشَّمْسَ ضِيَاء وَالْقَمَرَ نُورًا
