Mary Magdalene and the Da Vinci Code We are witnessing the degradation of morality and the introduction of all manner of false religion and cults today. The time was right for the “Mary Magdalene Movement” and Dan Brown’s best seller, The Da Vinci Code.

Mary Magdalene and the Da Vinci Code Mary was a common name: 1. The mother of Jesus (Matt. 1: 16). 2. Sister of Lazarus (Lk. 10: 39). 3. Mother of Mark (Acts 12: 12). 4. A Christian in Rome (Rom. 16: 6).

Mary Magdalene and the Da Vinci Code Mary Magdalene: 1. First mentioned (Lk. 8: 1-3). 2. At crucifixion (Matt. 27: 55, 56). 3. After resurrection (Matt. 28: 1-10).

Mary Magdalene and the Da Vinci Code View that Mary was a prostitute: “Pope” Gregory in 591 A. D. said Magdalene, Mary of Bethany, and the sinner of Luke 7: 37 are the same (Catholic Church said in 1969 were all different women).

Mary Magdalene and the Da Vinci Code Mary is presented as the most loved and a leader, instructing even the twelve. Found with fragments of the “Gospel of Thomas,” believed to have been written 125 – 175 A. D., replete with Gnostic concepts.

Mary Magdalene and the Da Vinci Code “Look at the disciple on the right, it is a woman?” (Dan Brown.)

Mary Magdalene and the Da Vinci Code Mary Magdalene is being exalted to an anti-biblical position!

Mary Magdalene and the Da Vinci Code What is the impetus for the fascination with the Mary Magdalene Movement? 1. Women’s movements. 2. Glorification of sin. “Or do you not know that the unrighteous inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither Fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor ef- feminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves…shall in- herit the kingdom of God” (I Cor. 6: 9,10, NASV).

Mary Magdalene and the Da Vinci Code Women played an important role in the early church. 1. Phoebe (Rom. 16: 1), Priscilla (Rom. 16: 3- 5); women saluted (Rom. 16: 12).

Mary Magdalene and the Da Vinci Code The Da Vinci Code advocates a number of aberrant views: 1. Jesus and Mary were married. 2. Jesus and Mary had a child. 3. A woman taking a leadership role.
